IPHONE 16: AVAILABILITY AND POSSIBLE PRICE

The release date of the iPhone 16 is scheduled for September 2024, if Apple sticks to its existing plan. Although there have been a few instances of delays in recent years, Apple has never strayed too far from its plan.

Our best estimate is that Apple will keep with an entry-level model costing $800 since as of right now no pricing rumors for the iPhone 16 have emerged. models that range from $1,000 to $1,100, and greater capacity versions that add a few hundred more to the price.

Nevertheless, the increasing cost of phone components may result in an increase in the price of the iPhone 16. For instance, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s price increased by $100 this year compared to its predecessor, reaching the impressive $1,299 mark.

If the iPhone 16 Ultra exists as some have claimed, we would have to believe it would cost noticeably possibly $1,200 or more. With the iPhone 16, it appears more likely than not that Apple will remain with the present range, which consists of the regular model, a Plus version, and two Pro variants.

Apple supply chain specialist Ming-Chi Kuo has informed us that the iPhone 16 series won’t be seeing any significant external modifications. However, a few minor adjustments might yet be made.

With the addition of a new Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023, it appears that all iPhone 16 models may have a “Capture button.” This appears to be a camera shutter button with the ability to focus images as well, based on what has been observed on prototype iPhone 16 units.

Once more, a fingerprint sensor is not anticipated to be included in the upcoming iPhones.

According to a different rumor, the Action button will be available for the iPhone 16 Plus and the regular iPhone. According to one insider, this won’t function any differently than what we saw on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Online leaked prototype designs for the iPhone 16 indicate that the primary cameras will be moved. It’s possible that non-professional iPhone 16 models will opt for a vertical camera arrangement, enabling them to capture 3D video.

This alteration appears to be supported by a number of mockups, leaked schematics, CAD drawings, and dummy units.

For what it’s worth, images of what look to be iPhone 16 cases verify that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus include Action and Capture buttons in addition to vertically stacked cameras.

Regarding hues, it is possible that Apple may introduce a new Rose choice for the iPhone 16 Pro. Additionally, the traditional silver option and Space Black from the iPhone 14 Pro might be making a comeback. To provide customers with the most color options yet, all of the iPhone 15 hues may make a comeback in some capacity for the base models, in addition to new choices in white and purple.

MODELRumored colors
iPhone 16 Black, blue, pink, yellow, green, white, purple
iPhone 16 Plus Black, blue, pink, yellow, green, white, purple
iPhone 16 Pro Rose/desert yellow, gray, space black, white
iPhone 16 Pro Max Rose/desert yellow, gray, space black, white
IPHONE 16: Color

It seems that Apple intends to discontinue the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus’s yellow option. According to a recent tweet by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 will instead be available in pink, white, black, and green. Additionally, they said that Apple might rebrand some of the hues and that even tints with the same names might not look the same as they do on the current models.

IPHONE 16: DISPLAY

Based on a roadmap created by Samsung Securities, it is said that we will see bigger iPhone 16 Pro variants this year; the iPhone 16 Pro Max measures 6.9 inches while the iPhone 16 Pro supposedly measures 6.3 inches.

If you want the claimed exact specifications down to fractions of a millimeter, those have leaked too. CAD designs also highlight the size difference between the Pro Max model and the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also thinks the Pro model will get a screen size increase. The largest iPhones to history, Gurman said the iPhone 16 Pro versions will expand by “a couple tenths of an inch diagonally.” Analyst Jeff Pu also underlined this, projecting a 0.2-inch screen size increase.

Though in what would be a minor issue for consumers who prefer smaller phones, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are reportedly keeping with the current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes.

Furthermore disappointing given most Android phones offer 90Hz or greater for smoother, more efficient scrolling, they might easily preserve the outdated 60Hz refresh rate of the iPhone 15 too.

New slimmer bezels around the display would be one potential improvement for all versions. The next iPhones’ screens will seem even bigger if Apple’s manufacturing partners can get their output up to pace within time.

More recently, there is a conjecture that Apple may restrict reduced bezels to the iPhone 16 Pro variants. Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro would have a 1.2mm bezel instead of 1.5mm on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. For background, the iPhone 15 Pro features a 1.71m, bezel.

upcoming OLED materials provided by Samsung could be used in the panels on the upcoming phones. Rumors have claimed that the improved panel would substitute blue phosphorescence technology for blue fluorescent technology, hence enhancing the display’s power efficiency.

To that aim, a research out of Asia suggests the iPhone 16 Pro models to feature a sophisticated OLED panel from Samsung that should make those two phones 20% brighter than their predecessors.

IPHONE 16: CAMERAS

We would believe the cameras utilized on the iPhone 16 will be essentially the same as those seen on the iPhone 15, which would probably be a 48MP main camera accompanied by 12MP ultrawide, selfie and telephoto (on the Pro variants) sensors without reports saying differently.

Although both ordinary and Pro iPhones could have the same 48MP primary resolution, the Pro models’ sensor may be larger to provide the more costly models more benefit with photography.

One source claims that the 48MP main camera could get a size update stating that the new sensor will measure 1/1.14 inches (0.87 inches) instead of the present 1/1.28 inches (0.78 inches). Ideally, a bigger sensor will produce images that are brighter and more vivid.

At the iPhone’s widest 0.5x magnification level, a second 48MP sensor may be fitted to the ultrawide cameras of the Pro models, enabling the same benefits and maybe even whole 48MP ProRes images. A second source supports the 48MP ultrawide Pro model report.

The conventional models might then go back to the vertical camera configuration seen on the iPhone 12. This could be modified to enable spatial video recording for Vision Pro and other headsets.

Additionally, there have been reports that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a tetraprism telephoto lens complete with 5x zoom capabilities, therefore improving the telephoto camera on both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Additionally possible is a higher grade lens for both the main lens and the telephoto. That can show up as an increased iPhone 16 Pro camera module size.

The iPhone 16’s expected 12MP selfie cameras are same to those of the iPhone 15. One report claims that there won’t be any significant change until the iPhone 17; apparently, it will start running front-facing cameras with 24MP sensors.

Although the fundamentals might not change all that much, Samsung might be the one providing Apple with the camera sensors instead of Sony as we have seen in earlier iPhones. Therefore, even if the resolutions remain the same, Samsung’s newest technologies help to show progress.

IPHONE 16: POSSIBLE SPECS

  • Should Apple remain in its present approach, the A17 Pro chip seen in the iPhone 15 Pro models would be inherited by the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. With the Pro models slated to get more powerful versions of the A18, a more exciting rumor states all iPhone 16 models will operate on 3-nanometer A18 CPUs. Still, another leak points to the A18 Pro lagging behind rivals.
  • Additionally hypothesised is that the A18 might have a bigger die area than the A17, allowing space for extra transistors or specialized circuitry — which could enable on-device AI for the phone. Additionally helping to improve these capabilities could be a RAM upgrade to 8GB.
  • Apple is supposedly ordering a lot of processors, up to 100 million units, regardless of the design of the A18 since it expects great demand for iPhone 16 variants.
  • Additionally reported is WiFi 6E capability for quicker and more consistent home internet rates. Several sites have lately reported this, while more recent speculations indicate Wi-Fi 7 may be on the cards for iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • For the base, storage will probably start at 128GB; Plus and Pro iPhone 16 models will start with the iPhone 16 Pro Max commencing at 256GB like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Thanks to a new type of memory, Apple could start providing 256GB by default on all models and up to 2TB of storage on the Pro models; however, this could be slower to read and write data than present iPhones.
  • Not expected to show this year is the long-rumored Apple-built modem. Apple apparently has trouble creating a production-ready semiconductor, and Qualcomm is scheduled to provide modems for the iPhone till 2026. Jeff Pu says we will get a Snapdragon X75 modem with a new “5G advanced” standard capable of 7.5 Gbps.

IPHONE 16: BATTERY

According to leaks, the batteries for the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max may go bigger. But a 6% drop in the iPhone 16 Plus’s battery capacity might coincide with the models’ apparent gain.

A different report claims that the batteries in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would grow to 3,577 mAh and 4,747 mAh, respectively. In contrast, the iPhone 15 Pro has 3,274 mAh, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has 4,422 mAh.

According to another source, Apple may guarantee the upcoming iPhones would have a battery life of more than 30 hours. That would be very impressive given that the iPhone 15 series is the only one to receive promises of all-day battery life. It remains to be seen, though, whether this would be the case for all iPhone 16s or just the larger models.

After several iPhone 15 Pro users complained about their devices overheating, there has been considerable discussion regarding Apple investigating new methods to distribute heat in the iPhone 16. Using a new battery connector and frosted metal exterior, at least for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, is one potential fix from Apple.

There may also be plans for higher battery density, which would enable a larger capacity in a cell with the same dimensions. In order to increase density, Apple may decide to use stainless steel for its battery casings; this might benefit the iPhone 16 Pro Max in particular.

t has been rumored that Apple is thinking of ways to make changing the iPhone 16’s battery simpler. People could take the battery out of the phone’s chassis with a quick electrical shock if it were enclosed in a steel case.

IPHONE 16: SOFTWARE

The 2024 iPhone devices will undoubtedly run iOS 18. We now have a better idea of the features that Apple’s software update will include thanks to its preview at the Worldwide Developer Conference in June.

These features include a redesign of the Photos app, more customization options for the iPhone home screen, and various enhancements to other apps like Notes, Maps, and others

A significant portion of the software upgrade will also include Apple Intelligence, the term for AI features that Apple is bringing to all of its products, but only for a select few phones.

Apple is limiting the use of Apple Intelligence to devices that have an A17 processor or newer; given that the four iPhone 16 models are expected to operate on A18 hardware, this likely includes all of them.

Furthermore, this series of iPhones may feature the best AI performance of any Apple product because of a supercharged NPU.

Writing capabilities, generative photo editing tools, and an enhanced Siri with ChatGPT support are among the features of Apple Intelligence. Will all of these be sufficient to persuade individuals to switch to the newest iPhone 16 models? Later this year, we will learn.

IPHONE 16: OUTLOOK

A few more months remain before the iPhone 16 is released, so more rumors may come to light, some validating previous reports and others discounting the features that are currently being emphasized. Nevertheless, in advance of the iPhone 16’s autumnal arrival, we have a very good idea of what to anticipate from it.

Improved cameras with a longer zoom (for the Pro models at least), a larger frame, an improved display, and the regular yearly power and performance improvements would all be an improvement above the iPhone 15, which dominated the top ranks of our best iPhone rankings.

Does that imply waiting until September to buy any iPhones? You should get an iPhone if you currently require one. However, it is obvious that the iPhone 16 release will bring about a number of noteworthy adjustments, encompassing both software and hardware.

Conclusion

  • The iPhone 16 series introduces significant improvements bridging the gap between standard and Pro models.
  • Expected features include larger screens, improved cameras, and a new A18 chip for enhanced performance.
  • iOS 18 brings AI advancements and redesigned apps, promising a more intuitive user experience.
  • Battery capacities are rumored to increase, potentially addressing past concerns about longevity.
  • Overall, the iPhone 16 series aims to consolidate Apple’s position at the forefront of mobile technology, offering compelling upgrades across hardware and software.
